How to transform your life.

Most of my coaching clients come to me because they are in the early phases of a transformation.

Now, they wouldn’t use this language. They would say they feel stuck, want more out of life, or work too much and crave a more well-rounded life.

But it’s the early murmurs of a transformation. Their life is about to profoundly change as a result of the work they are about to do.

The hard part about bringing this transformation to life is letting go of the old thing. Now, the old thing may be a job, a relationship, or a habit that is no longer serving you and is likely holding you back from becoming the next version of yourself.

The thing about letting go is that we often have this sure thing in our hands. It works…kind of.

But we know deep down it’s not enough anymore. But it’s still good, and it pays the bills, keeps me company, or allows me a little distraction or reprieve.

An easy example of this is when I quit drinking. There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that my drinking was a destructive force in my life. But for me, it almost worked as a solution. It almost made things ok. It wasn’t miserable all the time and was occasionally fun!

But it never really worked and certainly wasn’t sustainable.

When I made the decision to stop drinking, it was extremely painful, and I felt like I was saying goodbye to my best friend.

Of course, once I stopped drinking, my life instantly started to get better in thousands of ways and has continued to improve over the past couple of decades.

If you want to experience a transformation and move into the next version of yourself, know that there will be fear and trepidation. But letting go of the old thing is the only way to make room for the new thing.
