Unlocking the power of choice: how to be free from regret.
In his book Man’s Search For Meaning, Victor Frankl writes about the gap that exists between stimulus and response.
How many of us have blown right through that gap and said or done something we later regretted?
One of the benefits of a consistent mindfulness practice is to broaden that gap. To create enough space for us to remember that we are decent and ethical people. To recall the values that we subscribe to and are trying to live by.
Taking time each day to slow down, to watch our breath, or bring awareness to our physical sensations helps increase that gap to something we can work with.
Life is going to happen. Change is constantly occurring. People are going to piss you off, let you down, or leave you forever.
Giving yourself the chance to respond to those inevitable experiences in the way you want to is the advantage of being more mindful.
